National Hypertension Taskforce Reveals Their Roadmap to Improve Australia’s Blood Pressure Control Rate to 70% by 2030

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, affecting millions of Australians and significantly contributing to chronic illness. In a significant step forward for public health, the National Hypertension Taskforce has unveiled an ambitious yet achievable plan to improve blood pressure (BP) control rates across Australia to 70% by 2030.

The newly published Roadmap outlines a comprehensive strategy focusing on three key pillars:

Prevention

Emphasising healthy diet, regular exercise, and weight management to reduce the risk of developing high BP.

Detection

Increasing the measurement and diagnosis of high BP to ensure prompt
and accurate identification.

Effective Treatment

Simplifying treatment guidelines and recommendations to improve BP management.

The Taskforce’s Roadmap reflects a commitment to improving health outcomes by fostering collaboration between government bodies, healthcare providers, and the community.
